WCWSN Taping Results from Bismarck, ND - 03/01/00
By DRG from Minot, ND
- Kid Romeo defeated Elix Skipper
- Kid Romeo did his glowstick dance.
- Good opening match from these two talented workers.
- Shark Boy defeated Silver King
- Silver King teased Shark Boy about his fin
- A few Shark Boy chants in the crowd (?!)
- Brian Knobbs & The Dog defeated Adrian Byrd & Dave Burkhead in a Hardcore Match
- Garbage cans, crutches, and chairs - the usual, but fun in person
- This match ended with a piledriver through a table (big pop for the table)
- Hugh Morrus defeated Matt Anderson?
- No Laughing Matter ended this one.
- Young Dragons defeated Los Dos Villanos & Jeremy Lopez
- I've never seen the Young Dragons before. It is Kaz Hayashi and two other Asian guys (although one had a Lone Ranger-type mask on, and might not have actually been Asian. I couldn't tell from my $15 seats.)
- A "USA" chant started up, even though the Dragons were Asian and the Villanos are Mexican. Lopez might be American, but still...
- 3 Count came out to observe this match and was booed heavily.
- The Wall defeated Rick Fuller
- Lash LeRoux defeated Rick Cordell
- Lash is the first wrestler of the night to speak on the mic with his Cajun catchphrases
- Hell (with Jimmy Hart) defeated Chad Hart
- First time I've ever heard of this guy. Big Goldberg-esque guy. Finisher is a piledriver.
- Chad Hart had pretty much no offense
- TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Mamalukes (w/Disco Inferno) defeated Sonny Siaki & Chuck Palumbo
- Both 'Disco Sucks' and 'Disco Fever' chants could be heard.
- Afterward the ring was rushed by the Armstrongs, PG-13 (I think, I not 100% on this one), and eventually the Harris Boys, who give both Mamalukes and Disco the H-bomb.
- TV TITLE MATCH: Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeated Fidel Sierra
- Typical Duggan match ("USA" chant, sloppy kneedrop, huge pop from the crowd)
- Harris Boys defeated Disorderly Conduct
- Screamin' Norman Smiley defeated Scotty Simba
- Good pop for Norman, ended with the Norman Conquest.
- Allan Funk defeated Barry Horowitz
- A "Boring" chant started up in this one. Can't wait to hear them fade that out in the telecast.
- 3 Count defeated El Dandy, Silver King, & Jeremy Lopez
- 3 Count did their song thing. And they still had the Hardcore belt with them, even though I don't think it was being defended.
- Young Dragons came out to watch this match.
- Tommy Rogers defeated Tony Dinungi (?)
- I have nothing to say about this, because I remember nothing about it.
- U.S. TITLE MATCH: Jeff Jarrett (w. The Harris Boys) defeated The Demon
- Before the match Jarrett cut a good promo, informing us he was back in Slapnuts Country, he was going to beat Sid in eight days at Uncensored (which confused some people in the audience who didn't realize TBS tapes two SN shows at once), he was the chosen one, and so on...
- Partway through his speech, Demon's music started up (dammit!)
- Demon gets an okay pop (probably more because of his entrance than anything)
- Jarrett gets most of the offense, plus some assistance from the Harris Boys
- Jarrett wins with the stroke.
- After the match Jarrett says something about giving The Demon a message for Gene Simmons. That's right, a guitar shot to The Demon (yes!).
- There seemed to be an altercation of some sort with the nWo guys and a fan. I didn't see what happened, but I could see the Harris Boys talking to this guy, Jarrett signaled 'you're outta here', and security escorted him away. Who knows what this was about.
- Mona defeated Little Jeannie
- Notable mainly for a 'We Want Puppies' chant.
- TV TITLE MATCH: Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeated Frankie Lancaster
- TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Mamalukes (w. Disco Inferno) defeated Steve & Scott Armstrong and PG-13 in a three team tag match
- PG-13 did their usual spiel on the mic
- At one point an Armstrong brother was battling Johnny the Bull and tagged Big Vito in. One of the PG-13 guys yelled at Armstrong because he realized what would eventually happen seconds later...Vito would just try to pin his partner and win it that way.
- Harris Boys come out and do some mic work after this.
- CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Kidman (w/Torrie Wilson) defeated The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Iaukea (w/Paisley) via DQ
- This match ended with a belt shot
- After the match Torrie and Paisley had a catfight outside the ring
- Kidman grabbed TAFKAPI's hat and robe, put them on, and mocked the Artist (pretty funny stuff).
- Paisley and the Artist came back to the ring, and the two ladies got into another scuffle. Kidman grabbed the mic and challenged them to a mixed tag match. The Artist begrudgingly accepted.
- Kidman & Torrie Wilson defeated The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Iaukea &
Paisley in a mixed tag match
- Not really much of a match. Very short, ending with TAFKAPI and Paisley leaving and getting counted out.
- Random Notes:
- Before the event, in the ticket area, they had TVs that were showing the live feed of the main ring camera. At one point, two wrestlers (I think one was Big Vito) were in the ring rehearsing their spots and/or testing the ring. After a few minutes I think they realized they didn't want everybody to see this and cut off the feed.
- Referee Charles Robinson got some of the best heel heat of the night, as he was booed mercilessly between filming breaks. He jawed with the crowd a little, and even did the Nature Boy strut.
- Overall a fun show. Good to see and hear Jarrett. The Kidman/Iaukea segment was pretty entertaining (although it might not play as well on TV). There were some other decent matches, although the predictability reminded me why I don't watch WCWSN on a regular basis.
- A little too much garbage being thrown into the ring. What, do people NOT want them to return?
