Mr. Kwan's report:
- World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Misterio beat Juventud Guerrera and Kidman when Rey pinned Juvi
- World TV Champion Booker T pinned Brian Adams
- World Tag Champions Benoit and Malenko beat Fit Finlay and Dave Taylor (subbing for Hennig and Windham) when Finlay submitted to the Texas Cloverleaf.
- Konnan beat Blitzkreig (subbing for Scott Hall) with the Tequila Sunrise
- In a funny note, when Blitzkreig went to the outside and begin drinking a fan's beer, these kids in front of me began shouting,"It's Scott Hall! It's Scott Hall!". The future of America...
- Saturn beat Jericho with the DVD
- Goldberg pinned Hugh Morrus after the Spear and a HUGE Jackhammer
- Rick Steiner (in for DDP) beat Scott Steiner after a chairshot and a 2nd ref
came in to make the count
- Hollywood Hulk Hogan beat Ric Flair via disqualification after the Horsemen came into save Flair (strangely AA came in to help Flair even after helping
Windham on Thunder. W.T.F.?!)
Biggest Pops:
- Goldberg
- Hulk Hogan (in full Hulkster persona, despite Hollywood garb and Wolfpac music)
- Konnan
- Booker T
- Kidman
/Misterio
Most Heat:
- Flair (who did his "fatboy" bit, and also called Piston Jerome Williams, who was in the front row, a punk)
- Jericho (why? My friends and I are big Jericho marks)
- Scott Steiner
- Juvi
- Brian Adams
All in all all, it was a pretty good show, the highlights being the Juvi-Kidman-Misterio match, Goldberg's huge reception, and the nostalgia I felt watching Hulk Hogan slowly but surely return to his old self (sue me, I love it).
Q-Ball and Ben's report:
- At 7:30 pm on Saturday, The Palace of Auburn Hills was filled with exciting
WCW action, and here are the results.
- Rey Mysterio Jr vs Billy Kidman vs Air Juvi
- Rey and Kidman teamed up against Juvi for the first few minutes until the
"accidental" bumps by both. High energy, fast moves by all 3. At one point,
Rey Jr was ready to give Juvi a frankensteiner from the top when Kidman
hoisted Juvi on his shoulders for an awesome move (My camera didn't work when
I went to take a pic of this.) Rey Jr finally went up top for a frankensteiner
for the win.
- Winner: Rey Jr retains his Crusierweight title after pinning Air Juvi
- Booker T vs Bryan Adams
- nWo member Adams came out to a no response, but quickly got one when Adams
was destroying Booker T, and got onto the house mic and said that Booker
might as well hand over the belt, and that he'd give him a chance to body slam him.
- Booker T took the advantage and hit a small package out of nowhere for the pin.
- Winner: Booker T retains his TV Title
- Beniot/Malenko vs Finley/Taylor
- Originally scheduled to face Hennig/Windom, the 2 Europeans entered the
ring against 2 members of the 4 Horsemen, along with Arn Anderson who was
ringside.
- The Europeans took the early advantage, but the Horsemen took it back, with
a Crippler Crossface, into a Texas Cloverleaf for Dave Taylor for the
win. (Benoit had to hit Finley with the tag belt to secure the win)
- Winner: Horsemen retain.
- Konnan vs Blitzcreig
- Replacing the injured Scott Hall, Blitzkreig was easily overmatched, with
"boring" chants going throughout the arena with 3 minutes of the match. The
highlight came when Blitzcreig went to the outside and stole a beer from a
fan, and begane toasting with the fans, eventually, when he hit the apron,
the beer went 6 rows back. Konnan started it out with many Mexican mat
moves, but secured the match with a call for the "187"
- Winner: Konnan via 187
- Saturn vs Chris Jericho
- Jericho came out and did his usual speel about Detriot and such. Saturn comes out in a chain dress coat with some weird leather dress. Many "Come on Baby" covers, but in the end, Jericho slaps on the "Loiontamer", only to have Saturn reach the ropes and put Jericho up in a DVD.
- Winner: Saturn via DVD
- Goldberg vs Hugh Morrus
- Morrus, subbing for the injured Bam Bam Bigelow, knew he had no "chance in hell" of beating Goldberg in this matchup. Goldberg recieved major pops and easily mastered the man of laughs, spearing him just 4 minutes into the match, and the good ol' "Jackhammer" for the victory.
- Winner: Goldberg
- Rick Steiner vs Scott Steiner
- Rick Steiner, subbing for DDP, started the match off by saying for Scotty to "get your ass in the ring before Detriot kicks your ass". Hugh pop.
- Throughout the match, Scotty had problems with two fans, seated in the D and C sections
of the floor, first row, but in the end, never saw his end, as Rick Steiner defeats his brother via bulldog after a chair shot by Ricky.
- Winner: Rick Steiner
- Hogan vs Flair
- Hogan came out to a HUGE pop, first pop since his WM3 apperance in Detriot. Flair came out and started the crowd off, by yelling at two fat ringside fans, and telling Hogan, "Your chances of winning this belt are like the Pistons beating the LA Lakers". Man, did he get heat by that comment. Flair and Hogan tossed the match over, but Hogan got the boot and Hulked up, when the
Horsemen entered the ring, and Hoagn cleared the ring, and stealing the World Belt in the ring. Thr crowd went nuts.
- Winner: Hogan by DQ
The house show was the best show in The Palace since the 100th Nitro, August
7th, 1997 when Lex Luger defeated Hogan for the title. Lots of action and
great matches. They will return on June 25th, 1999.
Pops:
- Goldberg
- Hogan
- Kidman
- Booker T
- Rey Jr
