Since WCW comes about once a year to this part of the state (which is still 2 1/2 hours away from home), I thought I would supply a more detailed report:

• Going with the times, here's a trivia question (answer at the bottom): What college did Mike Rotundo (Wallstreet, Irwin R. Schyster, etc.) attend and sometimes use as his entrance music?
• I was hoping they'd use the same lineup as they'd used in Uniondale and Philadelphia, but they didn't. That meant I didn't get to see Flair, who is somebody I've really wanted to see perform. I figured I was a victim of odds and victim of scheduling. For example in all shows I've attended:
  • 11/94 -- Flair is retired about 20 days earlier by Hogan
  • 12/22/97 -- Flair is "injured" by Curt Hennig 7 days earlier in Charlotte
  • 1/2/99 -- Florida is playing in the Citrus Bowl tonight. Flair's probably walking the sidelines with Steve Spurrier.

  Now the report from the home of the state high school basketball finals and the Macon Whoopee (read into it) hockey team, here's the actual report!

• Penzer comes out
  • Says it's the first WCW show of 1999
  • Says anyone that shines a laser pen gets it confiscated and also gets ejected and/or arrested
  • Shockingly, not many shine one after that
• Scotty Riggs vs. Chip Minton
  • Referee: Charles Robinson
  • Minton's from Macon -- the crowd doesn't even realize that or else, he'd be getting a pop.
  • Neither man really dominates
  • Winner: Riggs with an elbow after whipping Minton off the ropes
  • I thought they'd let Chip win, as he's the local boy...
• Kaz Hayashi vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr.
  • Referee: RANDY "PEE WEE" ANDERSON
  • Chavo comes out without Pepe, but runs around like usual when he's riding Pepe
  • Chavo gets the mic and says he's looking for Pepe. He left him tied up out back, but he's gone!
  • Pee Wee tries to check Chavo for weapons and then Chavo turns around and does the same
  • Guerrero is controlling most of the match...
  • Yuck! Chavo just gave Kaz a "wet willy"
  • Winner: Chavo with a Tornado DDT
• Ernest Miller vs. Saturn
  • Referee: Charles Robinson
  • Miller comes out without Sonny and gets the mic
    • Says the usual about the fans (in this case, it's true)
  • Saturn comes out and Miller still has the mic
    • Gives the usual five seconds deal
      • "My hands are registered lethal weapons!"
      • "I don't want to end up in jail, some I'M leaving"
  • Miller dominates the ensuing match
  • At one point, Miller complains to Robinson of a hair pull
  • Later, Miller complains to Robinson and kicks him in his leg
  • Robinson kicks back, prompting Saturn to tell the fans, "He (Robinson) should have given *you* five seconds". Saturn then raises Robinson's hand to represent victory
  • Saturn comes back...
  • No chance for Miller...
  • Winner: Saturn with a Death Valley Driver
• Kanyon vs. Prince Iaukea
  • Kanyon gets the mic
    • Says that he thinks we've all turned over a new leaf
    • "Who's better than Kanyon?"
    • Usual response
    • Kanyon then says he wished we all had a rotten Christmas and New Year
  • Kanyon dominates the match
  • Not much to say here
  • Winner: Kanyon with a Flatliner
• Intermission
• Chris Jericho and Juventud Guerrera vs. Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit
  • Yes! Ralphus is here!
  • Jericho gets the mic:
    • Asks Ralphus and Juvy the name of this town
    • "Chicago... Chicago, Georgia"
  • Big pop for the Horsemen
  • Benoit and Malenko with the early advantage
  • Then, Jericho & Juvy are in control of Benoit
  • Back to Malenko & Benoit
  • Now, Jericho & Juvy control Malenko
  • Hot tag to Benoit!
  • Malenko and Juvy end up battling outside while Jericho is fighting Benoit
  • Jericho gets Benoit down -- tries for the Lion Tamer
  • Here comes Malenko -- Juvy stops him
  • Benoit reaches the ropes
  • Malenko somehow ends up back in and gets Juvy to submit to the Texas Cloverleaf
  • Winners: See statement above
  • Jericho's mad at Juvy for the loss and splashes him with a drink
    • They push each other a couple of times
    • How sweet -- they hug and make up...
• Bret Hart comes out
  • Says he can't wrestle tonight and says if Sting (!) wasn't too big of a coward, he had a challenge for him. He's bringing out... Wrath!
  • He's still calling Sting a coward
  • Hart turns toward the aisle and Sting comes from behind and gets him!
  • Wrath quickly helps Hart control him
  • A few fleeting moments of control for Wrath...
  • Sting's higher up on wrestling's food chain than Wrath, so...
  • Winner: Sting by pinfall after two Stinger Splashes and something else (I couldn't tell -- a 5-year-old punk was in my way
• Main event time!
• Giant vs. Goldberg
  • Referee: Charles Robinson
  • Giant gets the mic
    • "For those of you with the sign -- I am NOT a 500 pound homo!"
  • Goldberg's announced as being from "Parts Unknown".
    • We finally have the answer to the question!
      • Parts Unknown = Tulsa, Oklahoma
  • Giant dominates as much as anyone dominates in a usual Goldberg match
  • Giant goes for the chokeslam and Goldberg blocks it
  • Giant gets mad later and is about to chokeslam Robinson
    • Goldberg with the spear to break that up...
  • You know the result
  • Winner: Giant by the chokeslam
    • Just kidding
  • Real Winner: Goldberg with the jackhammer
• Show's over.
• Final thoughts: Good show with the assumed returns of Randy Anderson and Sting
