House Show Results from Nashville, Tennessee, Wednesday, 12/02/1998
By Granville P. from Cross Plains, Tennessee
Hey, there, I have just returned from the December 2nd house show. It
being the first big two show I've ever been to, I'm not sure what I was
expecting but I had a good time. Here's what went down:
- Match 1: Disco Inferno vs Kidman
- Disco started running down Nashville saying the only music was
country. My friend and I were yelling "You're tuning into the wrong
stations!" But anyway it was a great first match Kidman wins with the
shooting star press.
- Match 2: Norman Smiley vs Chris Adams
- This was supposed to be Alex Wright vs Chris Adams but for some reason
Alex wasn't there. Not that I minded, let me tell you my friend and I had
three signs: Jericho, 4 Horsemen, and SMILEY!!! Yes, while he was
walking out we were chanting "Smiley!". That was the only sound in the
arena. It was great! He saw our sign and gave the Smiley salute. But
unfortunately he had to do the job. Winner: Chris Adams via
pinfall. "Boring" chants almost started but my friend and I drowned them
out with "Smiley!".
- Match 3: Wrath vs Meng
- Pretty good match. Wrath wins with some kinda variant of the Rock Bottom
- Match 4: Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko (w/Arn Anderson) vs Barry Darsow &
Mike Enos
- Darsow came out in golf gear and said that the match wouldn't go down
with AA there. AA went to the back and the match started. Standard tag match,
Benoit hits the hot tag to Malenko who cleans house. Somehow, Malenko
goes down, and AA runs out with a tire iron and nails Enos while the ref's
back was turned. Malenko covers for the win. After the match Enos
grabs one of Darsow's golf clubs and chases Darsow backstage with it.
- Intermission.....
- Match 5: Juvi Guerrara vs Rey Mysterio Jr.
- This was origanlly supposed to be Chris Jericho vs Booker T but
Booker is hurt, so they replaced him with Rey. Then, for whatever
reason, my paragon of virtue couldn't make it so we got Juvi.
Juvi got on the mic early on: "Hey, Rey, just tell me why don't you want to be LWO?"
Rey: "Cause LWO SUCKS, man!!"
Juvi: "Well, fine, if thats how you want to be I don't give a f**k".
Good match like we can expect from these two. During the course of the match, Juvi took off Rey's mask It didn't get
all the way off. A rest hold later and it was back in place. Weird. Anyway, Rey wins with a top rope frankensteiner (hurricanrana?).
- Match 6: Stevie Ray vs Lex Luger
- Luger really doesn't deserve the pop he gets. *Yawn* Luger hit six
different moves the whole match:
- Punch
- Kick
- Body Block
- Clothesline
- Bionic Elbow
- Rack
Luger via the rack
- Match 7: DDP vs The Giant
- DDP's entrance music was messed up. Anyway, not much here. DDP with the Diamond cutter.
- I had a great time. Afterwards, we waited by the backstage area but were told to leave. Just where should we go to get autographs?
- POPS of the night:
- Luger
- Horsemen
- Kidman
- Boos:
- Stevie Ray
- Disco Inferno (Lotsa' "Disco Sucks" chants. I stuck with "You're not that bad!")
- Juvi
