WCW Monday Nitro - October 9, 2000

Hopefully, this will be my last e-mail change for quite a while.

• Skipper gets his own music tonight.
• YES! Stevie Ray is commentating with Tony and Mark!
• Rey comes out with Tygress, who is looking rather good tonight.
• Note they keep the upper lights on since the arena is packed tonight.
• Skipper tries a full-nelson, but the two exchange go behinds.
• Skipper elbows out of a hold and shoves Rey down.
• Rey gets in a bodyscissors takeover from a mat position.
• Skipper lands on his feet after an Asai moonsault attempt and lands a spinning kick.
• Rey gets whipped to the ropes but he flips to the apron.
• Skipper then gives Rey a sunset flip powerbomb to the carpet!
• Back inside, Rey blocks a moonsault from the apron.
• Rey hits the top rope and lands a guillotine legdrop for two.
• Skipper reverses a whip and catches Rey on a moonsault.
• Skipper tries to jam Rey onto the turnbuckle but Rey counters.
• Rey hits a Fam-asser.
• Rey with a top-rope bodyblock for two.
• Skipper crotches Rey as the crowd yells "Canada Sucks."
• Skipper goes up top and goes for what was to be a frankensteiner but ends up hanging onto Rey before both men go off the apron instead. Weird, looked like a cross between a blown spot and an attempted submission move.
• Anyway, Skipper gets a legdrop from the top turnbuckle for two.
• Rey comes back with a top-rope headscissors.
• Rey levels Skipper with a clothesline.
• Rey nails a dropkick.
• Another clothesline and some punches.
• Rey sends Skipper outside.
• Rey uses the ropes for leverage as he hits a dropkick.
• Rey then goes airborne with a somersault dive to the outside.
• Back inside, Skipper nails Rey with a shoulderblock from the apron.
• Skipper tries a dive but misses.
• Skipper ends up in the corner for the Bronco Buster.
• Meanwhile, Torrie Wilson jumps Tygress from behind, presumably from the bad commentating she was doing for the past five minutes.
• Back in the ring, Rey uses the Tiger Mask Fake Out, but falls prey to "The Play Of The Week" for the win.
• It's a swank move — Skipper has Rey in a Fam-asser position, but instead of following through with the legdrop DDT, he twists his leg, driving Rey's head to the mat. Has to be seen to be believed.

• Looked sloppy at some instances, but this worked for me.
    

• The Thrillers have different music and not their quasi-Prodigy theme.
• Sanders puts himself over as the new WCW Commissioner.
• Sanders plans to book a "Down Underwear" match between Torrie Wilson and Tygress.
• Both ladies will start in safari outfits and the one left in her underwear loses.
• Sounds like another Iron Eyes Cody classic to me.
• Crowd: "Russo Sucks!"
• Sanders tries to get the crowd to continue by asking what they said.
• Sanders says the crowd will witness the end of Goldberg's streak.
• The Cat and Ms. Jones walk out.
• Cat asks Sanders who the hell he thinks he is.
• Cat calls Sanders a Russo ass-kisser.
• Cat compliments Sanders for pulling hard for this show, but says the only thing Sanders will be pulling out is the Cat's foot from his ass.
• Cat notes Sanders' buddies and asks his rival to team up.
• Cat says he wants to celebrate and walks to the apron.
• Cat says he has a few friends that want to celebrate and calls them out.
• Out comes the Midcarders In Action.
• Sanders tells the sound guy to hit the Cat's music.
• The Cat cuts a rug for three seconds before the faces bum rush the Thrillers and send them from the ring.
• Cat says he's gonna beat Sanders' ass all night.

• Kind of odd to see the tag champs with no entrance.
• The Knights get the second entrance. Who's the face team here?
• Wright and Jindrak start.
• Wright starts with some kicks and a go-behind.
• Wright brings Jindrak to their corner for some Disco offense.
• Wright sends Jindrak into the corner.
• Wright and a corner whip, followed by a running elbow.
• Wright blocks a charge in the other corner but falls prey to a side slam.
• The duck gets involved, allowing Wright to get a two-count.
• Tag to Disco.
• Wright with a suplex, followed by a Disco kneedrop.
• Disco gets whipped to the rope and gets kneed from behind by O'Haire.
• This allows the champs to take control.
• After a tag, O'Haire gets a powerslam in.
• Disco tries some boxing, but it goes nowhere.
• Tag to Jindrak.
• Some doubleteaming in the corner, followed by a biel.
• Jindrak sets Disco up for the Sean-ton Bomb, but Disco cuts O'Haire off in the corner.
• Jindrak whips Disco, who holds the ropes on a dropkick attempt.
• Disco tags Wright.
• Missile dropkick leads to a two count.
• Disco with a forward atomic drop followed by a Wright dropkick for two.
• Jindrak whips Wright, who gets tripped by O'Haire.
• Tag to O'Haire.
• Double atomic drop followed by a double dropkick.
• Madden and Schiavone refer to the Rock 'N' Roll Express after that move, to which Stevie responds with: "Who?"
• Jindrak takes Wright out with a lariat from up top for two.
• Double-whip to the corner.
• O'Haire nails a lariat.
• Another corner whip, but Jindrak misses the elbow.
• Tag to Disco.
• Disco whips O'Haire into his kick to the gut/neckbreaker combo.
• DDT on Jindrak.
• Disco covers both guys (at separate times) for two.
• The champs try a double team on Disco but Wright comes off top with a bodypress for two.
• The ref gets wiped out during the melee.
• Jindrak rolls up Wright for two when another ref comes in for the count.
• Wright kicks Jindrak into a Chartbuster from Disco for the win at 5:58!
• But, Mike Sanders disqualifies the Boogie Knights because the ref got bumped.
• As the Knights have their attention to Sanders, the rest of the Thrillers come in from behind and annihilate the challengers.
• Sanders tells the referee to restart the match, and the pinfall victory for Jindrak/O'Haire are academic.
• YOUR WINNERS: Mark Jindrak and Sean O'Haire via pinfall in 6:10.
• You know, that was a good match, but I find it disturbing that WCW is making the current tag champs look extremely weak.
      

• Oh my God, Madden looks so disgusting.
  
• Stacy gives Madden a cold look as he tries to touch her.
• Madden talks about the pregnancy and how she left David Flair at the altar.
• Madden asks Stacy the big question.
• Stacy says it's none of anybody's business as to who is the father.
  
• Stacy tells David that his crap needs to stop.
• Stacy tells David to blame her and apologizes.
• Oh yeah, Stacy still loves David.
• Madden makes some misogynic comments towards Stacy, referring to her as a slut.
• This calls out David Flair, which brings a smile to Stacy.
• David ducks Stacy's hug and asks her what she sees with Buff Bagwell.
• David asks Stacy to take a blood test.
• Madden tells David that we all know she's the mother (hence, why give her a blood test?).
• Before David can pull out the needle, Crowbar runs out.
• Crowbar tries to reason with David, but he brings up jealously with Daffney.
• Crowbar tells David to go to the back for some talking.
• David has other ideas, in this case an ass-whipping on Crowbar.
• This brings out Mike Awesome, who clotheslines David out of the ring.
• So, how are we supposed to feel sympathetic for David Flair when he acts like a heel?

• They show some Australian K-1 fighting guy in the crowd.
• Let the crapfest begin!
• Basic shoving and hair-throwing to start.
• Stevie Ray: "It's on like Donkey Kong!" That's our Patron Saint.
• Tygress tries a Vader Splash but Torrie gets the knees up.
• Torrie rips off Tygress' shirt.
• Torrie sends Tygress to the corner but runs into a knee.
• Tygress with her Stuffbuster.
• Tygress rips Torrie's pants off.
• Torrie lines herself in the corner for the Bronco Buster.
• Torrie blocks a slap and hits her own.
• Tygress pulls Torrie's jacket off for the win.
• YOUR WINNER: Tygress in 1:52.
  
• Post-match, Shane Douglas runs in for the Franchiser but Konnan makes the save.
• You know, Douglas could complete the move before getting hit from behind if he doesn't wait 20 seconds before dropping Tygress.
• Post-match, Konnan runs down Douglas.
• I guess this was supposed to lure in the WOWE fanbase.
  

• Okay, that's my nickname. Too bad they don't use "Man Called Sting" as Jarrett's music.
• Jarrett forces David Penzer to read off a cue card introducing the original Sting.
• In the ring are a couple of autograph tables.
• Sign: "Jeff Jarrett Slaps His Own Nuts." I'm amazed production let that one slip by.
• Jarrett has an announcement for us.
• Jarrett tells the crowd to take a look at the "Stinger."
• Apparently, when Jarrett beats the "Stinger," the "Stinger" will retire.
• For all the little Stingers, the big Stinger will sign some autographs.
• Jarrett alludes to losing his smile during his spiel. Those smilectomies can be a bitch, just ask Shawn Michaels.
• The real Sting rappels from the top of the Brisbane Entertainment Center.
• Sting pops Jarrett a few times and sends him out of the ring.
• Sting puts Jarrett on the announce desk and gives him a cross-chop in the head.
• Back inside, Jarrett takes control and does three punches in the corner.
• Jarrett whips Sting in the corner and hits the Stinger Splash.
• Jarrett glances at the table and gives Sting a sloppy suplex on it.
• Sting no-sells the suplex and goes to town.
• Punches in the corner, Stinger Splash, Deathlock follow.
• A bunch of referees try to talk Sting out of killing Jarrett.
• Sting lets go and grabs Jarrett's robe as we go to commercial.

• Sanders comes out for a possible title defense.
• Sanders refers to The Cat telling him to bring backup.
• Sanders calls out his backup in the form of Kevin Nash, who gets a big face pop.
• Stevie (to Madden): "You coming out here preaching garbage, and I'm telling people what they need to know!" AMEN!
• Cat refers to Nash as Sanders' grandma.
• Cat has a partner and six words: "Save The Drama For Your Mama."
• Booker T comes out. So much for any title defense.
• Madden sucks up to Booker T tonight.
• Sanders and Booker start us off.
• Lockup, Booker with a headlock.
• Sanders whips Booker but falls prey to a shoulder tackle.
• Booker nails a spin kick.
• Apparently, that K-1 guy is Sam Kreco, or something like that.
• Tag to Cat, with a "full arm drag and twist" and some kicks.
• Sanders tries a sunset flip but Cat counters with a chop and his James Brown elbowdrop.
• Sanders whips Cat into a Nash forearm.
• Sanders chokes out Cat.
• Sanders with a snapmare.
• Sanders with a front kick off the ropes.
• Tag to Nash.
• Cat fights back, but Big Lazy sends him down.
• Nash with a side slam for two.
• Nash takes out Booker on the apron.
• Booker distracts the ref, allowing an illegal switch.
• Sanders with an eye rake.
• Cat reverses a whip and both men clothesline each other.
• Tag is made to Booker.
• At the same time, Nash enters the ring despite not making the tag.
• Booker cleans house.
• Booker does his usual stuff to Sanders.
• Madden actually says Spinerooni here but then bitches about it.
• Booker blocks Nash as Cat hits the Feliner on Sanders for the win.
• YOUR WINNERS: The Cat and Booker T via Feliner in 4:30.
• Post-match, Cat gets in Kreco's face.
• This allows Sanders to nail Cat from behind.
• Scott Steiner and Nash maul Booker in the ring.
• Steiner mocks Booker and nails him in the chest with his pipe.
• Steiner challenges Sting to a match tonight and then threatens the fans.
  

• Vito comes out pretty confident of himself.
• Goldberg gets the guarded entrance.
• Goldberg rushes the ring and no-sells Vito's offense.
• Vito slips out of a powerslam and nails the Yakuza Kick.
• Goldberg shrugs it off and spears Vito.
• If you can't guess what's next, you have no business to be reading this.
• YOUR WINNER: Goldberg via Jackhammer in 0:37.
• Post-match, Tony Schiavone announces that Goldberg is 4-0. Amazing, they're not augmenting the streak.
• Johnny The Bull uses this opportunity to dish out punishment to his former partner.
• Goldberg spins Johnny around and gives him a pumphandle suplex, but not after botching an attempt mid-ring first.
• Spear on Johnny.
• Goldberg jackhammers Johnny and Mickey Jay counts a pin, despite the fact that no match was officially started.
• I guess Goldberg is 5-0 now.
• As Kronic walks out, Vito is back to his feet.
  

• Congratulations, Mike! You get to carry the Greg Gagne of 2000 to a watchable match!
• David Flair rushes the ring and gets run over inside.
• Awesome blocks a hip toss and takes out David.
• Awesome gets a trashcan from outside.
• Awesome goes for the attack but David drags him to the corner.
• David gets some token offense and goes up top (!!)
• But, since David is a Flair, he comes down the hard way.
• Cover gets two.
• Awesome whips David to the corner, and David does a near-perfect Flair Flip! Whoo!
• As you'd expect, Awesome clotheslines David off the apron.
• Awesome whips David over the safety rail and follows with a dive.
• Awesome with a chairshot.
• Back inside, Awesome tries a charge to the corner but runs into a sneaker.
• Awesome grabs David from behind but eats a mule kick.
• Awesome no-sells David's chops in the corner.
• David does the Fargo Strut but gets leveled by a clothesline.
• Awesome slams David.
• Awesome does the "Awesome Stomp," according to Madden. Heh.
• Awesome goes up top and nails a frog splash.
• Awesome with a running Awesomebomb.
• Awesome covers David as the referee counts three (as does the crowd) for the win!

• Post-match, we see Ric Flair getting out of a car.
• Awesome pulls out a table and sets it up outside.
• Awesome goes for the Awesomebomb but Also Spratch Zarathursa plays over the PA.
• Ric Flair tries to talk Awesome out of the powerbomb attempt on the table.
• Awesome says Ric is right and leaves the ring.
• Ric tends to his son.
• David points his finger to Ric and tells him to get away.
• David runs away as his father gives chase.
• Gotta hand it to Son of Flair, he took his beating like a man here.
  

• Storm: "If I can be serious for a minute..."
  Schiavone: "He's always serious!"
• Storm runs down Australia.
• Storm has Skipper measure the ring specifications because of the gymnastics fiasco in which a vault was a couple centimeters off.
• Midway through the Canadian Anthem, we get Storm's opponent:
• Konnan, accompanied with his Animals.
• Noticeably absent is Juventud Guerrera. You probably know why by now.
• As the bell sounds, Major Gunns is heard cheering for Konnan.
• Both men work the mat for a few seconds.
• Team Canada is seen leaving the ring, as well as the Animals.
• Storm slides under Konnan after a whip.
• Konnan with a kneelift.
• Konnan with a roll-up for two.
• Konnan eats corner on a charge, allowing Storm a suplex for two.
• Storm with a kick.
• Konnan with some punches, but he falls prey to a jawbreaker and dropkick.
• Storm drives Konnan to the turnbuckle.
• Storm with a punch.
• Storm with a backbreaker.
• Cover gets two.
• Konnan blocks a suplex with an inside cradle for two.
• Both men lariat each other.
• The crowd counts along with the referee — they're really into it tonight.
• Storm goes up top and misses the diving headbutt.
• Rolling clothesline by Konnan.
• Off the ropes, Konnan with his mule kick/facebuster combo.
• As Storm reverses a whip to the corner, the crowd has their interest in something.
• Shane Douglas comes in with a chained fist for Konnan.
• Storm with a Northern Lights Suplex for two.
• They fight into the corner and Storm puts on the Canadian Mapleleaf for the win.
• YOUR WINNER: Lance Storm via Canadian Mapleleaf in 4:34.
• I don't see what the Douglas run-in did in the grand scheme of things considering Storm was allowed to win clean (thankfully).
    

• Steiner makes his entrance, followed by Sting.
• Not Kid Rock plays, and Jeff Jarrett comes out to play Special Guest Referee.
• Sting threatens Jarrett and gets nailed from behind by Steiner.
• Sting regains control and batters Steiner in the corner.
• Jarrett tries to pull Sting apart, allowing Steiner a chance to send Sting out of the ring.
• Sting whips Steiner to the rail and then takes his frustration on Jarrett.
• Let the screwiness begin.
• Basically, Sting beats down both men until Jarrett whips Sting into a Steiner belly-to-belly.
• Jarrett counts fast on the ensuing cover but when Sting gets up before three he STOPS THE COUNT. *sigh*
• Steiner with a backbreaker.
• Sting gets put into the Tree of Woe.
• Steiner with a chinlock as Jarrett gets his boots in.
• Billy Silverman comes in and gets pummelled by Steiner.
• Why is Jarrett, the heel ref, stopping the count when Sting kicks out?
• Short answer is the match would end too quickly, I know, but it doesn't make sense.
• Steiner with an exploder.
• And some push-ups. Can't forget the push-ups.
• Sting makes a comeback in the corner but gets kicked in the Little Stinger.
• Steiner batters Sting in the corner and pauses for an exercise session.
• This allows Sting to make the babyface comeback...
• Oh, wait, no. Steiner with an eyerake.
• Steiner charges the corner and eats boot.
• Sting with a Splash.
• Jarrett stops a second Stinger Splash and gets decked.
• They go outside.
• Sting goes to throw Jarrett over the rail but Steiner clubs him from behind with the pipe.
• They set the stairs by the ringpost and Sting gets whipped into it.
• Schiavone says Sting is lacerated, despite no gig marks being present.
• Sting brings Steiner inside and Jarrett slooowwwllly counts the pinfall.
• As Sting kicks out, Booker and Cat charge the ring.
• Jarrett gets taken out and Booker T is your new ref.
• Steiner covers Sting but sees Booker making the count.
• Steiner has words with Booker.
• Booker responds with a sidekick.
• Sting gives Steiner the Deathdrop for the win!
• YOUR WINNER: Sting via Scorpion Deathdrop in 6:50.
• The faces celebrate as we fade...
• Too screwy for my tastes, but I'll let it slide since the faces triumphed at the end for once.
