WCW Worldwide - Saturday, 6/17/00
-
Normal announcers this week.
-
Funny time killer to start.
-
See, they can't tell us what happened what happened at Great American Bash,
but they supposedly know.
-
At the same time, though, they're oh so happy about Goldberg being back.
-
Coming up later
-
Vampiro vs Crowbar
-
Christopher Daniels vs Chris Candido
-
and a tag team match
-
Mean Gene talks to Vampiro
-
Vampiro goes into his normal spasms, then fakes choking Gene.
-
Mean Gene talks about Crowbar being a worthy opponent
-
Vampiro: "Yeah Gene, he is. I remember when he was still working at a gas
station, and I pulled up one day and I (pause) guess the beating I gave
him that night when I tried to light him on fire, he didn't learn, so once
again, I'm going beat him down like a red headed step child."
-
Mean Gene hypes Vampiro: "I'm not blowing smoke either. (Pause) Did I say
that?"
-
Vampiro: "I certainly didn't feel it."
-
Vampiro: "There's just to many prima donnas here in WCW, I don't like anyone
here. I really don't care about the win and loss record, I want to get
into some good fights, break some rules and set a good example."
-
Mean Gene asks Vampiro to name names, as far as prima donnas are concerned.
-
Vampiro: "I don't - How much time we got?"
-
Gene: "I don't think we've got quite that much time."
-
Vampiro fakes choking Gene again as he sends it back.
-
Vampiro rules.
-
The announcers put over Daniels some, then back to the studio.
-
Everyone's talking about Goldberg.
-
Not for the reasons these two are.
-
Boy, Scott and Bobby really get to look dumb this week.
-
Back to Nitro, and a lot of Eric and Vince talking and not a lot of Goldberg.
-
Nice to see New South on Nitro.
-
It'd be better to see them wrestling, of course.
-
You know, someday I might do a Nitro report, just so I can go point out
when Ashley and Corey getting speared.
-
And the other guys, as soon as I learn their names.
-
We've got a new Cruiserweight champion.
-
They talk about how Daffney won the title fair and square.
-
Bobby: "Everything in WCW is great entertainment"'
-
Back to Thunder.
-
For once, most of the footage is actually the wrestling. That's good.
-
Bobby talks about Major Guns.
-
New Hardcore Champion
-
I'm shocked that this wasn't the lead story.
-
Bobby sells it as Eric was the only one man enough to beat Terry Funk for
his title.
-
Hudson: "That's disgusting."
-
It's Ask WCW.com time
-
Alfred Parsard asks Shawn Stasiak where he began training and why he became
a wrestler?
-
Shawn thrills us by cutting a heel promo on Alfred, without really answering
the question.
-
Chris Candido vs Christopher Daniels
-
Hmm. Daniels has a new haircut, at least since the last time I saw him.
-
You know what his outfit needs? A robe.
-
Anyway, I remember when he was just the tackling dummy for Bret Hart on
Later.
-
I don't know WHY I remember, but I do.
-
Lockup, headlock by Candido into an arm bar.
-
Daniels flips his way to a reversal, and puts on a headlock.
-
Off the ropes, shoulderblock, off the ropes, Candido drops down, Daniels
off the ropes and under the leapfrog...
-
Candido off the ropes, avoids the clothesline, Daniels off the ropes, jumps
at Candido, Candido catches him, but Daniels reverses to a snap mare.
-
Daniels holds on to the headlock while they're on the ground, but Candido
hooks in leg scissors, causing Daniels to let go.
-
Both up, Daniels takes Candido back down with a headlock.
-
Holding onto the headlock, Daniels gets a two count.
-
Daniels to his feet with the headlock, Candido moves him towards the corner,
and attacks when Daniels makes the clean break.
-
Daniels with a hard chop, punches, chop, corner whip reversed, and Candido
ends up flying out of the ring.
-
Daniels tries for a baseball slide, but Candido ducks down.
-
Daniels ends up outside, and slams Chris' head into the mat.
-
Daniels goes to the apron, and then hits a rope flip moonsault to Candido.
-
Rope Flip Moonsault - he drops his body on the top rope to bounce into
a moonsault.
-
Jeff Hardy has used it a lot in the past.
-
It's a really cool move.
-
Candido takes back control with a low blow and a punch, then goes for a
chair.
-
Chair shot is ducked by Daniels, who kicks Candido and then grabs the chair
for himself.
-
Chair shot to Chris (straight to the head) and Daniels throws him back
in.
-
Daniels with punches, whip, Candido ducks under the clothesline, but gets
hit with a back elbow
-
Daniels off the ropes, right into a short powerbomb. Candido covers, 2
count.
-
Candido stalls, then gives Daniels an extended half hour (full hour) vertical
suplex
-
Candido off the second rope with a legdrop, cover, 2 count.
-
Candido with a whip, duck under a clothesline, Daniels grabs an arm on
the second try and uses it to ram Candido into the corner.
-
Candido put up on the second turnbuckle, Daniels with an uppercut to keep
him there, then a top rope 'rana.
-
Daniels quickly to the opposite corner, bounces off the second rope, lands
on the top rope and this a moonsault.
-
Daniels can't cover though, as Candido got a hand up at the last second
to deflect the blow.
-
Both up at the same time, exchange of punches, with Daniels eventually
winning and hitting a backdrop out of it.
-
Daniels with a whip, and a heel kick.
-
Candido into the corner, Daniels throws a really bad punch, corner whip
is reversed, Candido runs into Daniels' boot.
-
Daniels goes to the second rope, Tornado DDT attempt reversed into a Northern
Lights Suplex by Candido. 2 count.
-
Candido goes for the enziguri kick, but Daniels ducks under.
-
Daniels with a kick of his own, then hits a double underhook piledriver/faceslam.
-
Not a Pedigree...Daniels lifted Candido up straight up like he was going
to drop him face first, but then flattened him out as Candido went down.
-
That'd be Daniel's "Angel's Wings" move
-
Daniels does his crucifix pose, then a simple throat slash.
-
Daniels lifts up Candido in reverse DDT position, then spins around like
a swinging neckbreaker.
-
That's technically a Inverted Facelock Swinging Bulldog, if you need to
know.
-
And, it's Daniel's "Last Rights" move.
-
Daniels covers, but Candido has a foot under the ropes.
-
Daniels picks up Candido, whip, Candido with a go behind, turns him around
and hits his partner's finisher.
-
That'd be a Greetings From Asbury Park, or just a plain sit down piledriver
-
Chris with his won thumb across the throat, and a top rope headbutt...
-
Hey, that Bigelow guy does that too...
-
Though I keep thinking about Benoit every time I see Candido do that.
-
Your Winner: Chris Candido (6:06)
-
Kinda long match for Worldwide.
-
I liked it.
-
Allen Funk and Mike Sanders vs New South
-
Allen Funk gets uninterrupted microphone time this week.
-
"You people listen up! I am "Angry" Allen Funk, this is "Average-
-
Funk stops, as Sanders whispers something in his ear
-
"This is "Above Average" Mike Sanders. We are the new, Double A Team. The
Re-Enforcers. We do for what four guys couldn't do (as they make the Horseman
signal), and we don't even need a horse! New South, we know you're scared...and
to all you tag teams in the back: Better start getting really scared!"
-
Mike and Tony wonder what Arn thinks about all this.
-
So do I.
-
But then, I wonder what Disco thinks off people stealing his gimmick (of
stealing Arn's gimmick.)
-
Everyone makes fun of Funk's orange skirt/sarong that he's wearing.
-
Hudson and Williams attack before the bell, but the Re-Enforcers get the
better of them, till a double whip backfires into a double clothesline.
-
Funk and Sanders decide to talk this over on the outside, while New South
taunts them from the turnbuckles.
-
New South has new outfits again this week.
-
Cory and Mike start off, or at least they do for a few seconds, as Cory
takes him down with a drop toe hold and tags to Ashley.
-
Double elbow drops by New South
-
Quite like Flash Funk, the announcers are quick to point out that Terry
and Allen are not related.
-
Ashley pushes Mike into the corner, and gets in some shots.
-
Corner whip, but Ashley charges right into a side kick.
-
Tag to Funk. Ashley is whipped, Sanders with a punch low, Funk with a high
knee.
-
Funk covers, 2 count.
-
Funk with mad stomping, cover, 2 count.
-
Funk picks him up, slams Hudson, covers him, 2 count.
-
Funk picks him up, tag to Sanders, snap mare by Funk, who follows with
Sanders' hard kick to the chest.
-
Mike hits a juking knee drop, then puts on a chinlock.
-
Ashley isn't really ever in it, getting back to his feet, only to get a
back elbow.
-
Mike tries for a short clothesline, but Ashley escapes, off the ropes,
and connects with the flying forearm.
-
Both men down, Hudson with the hot tag to Williams
-
Clothesline for Funk, clothesline for Sanders, dropkick for Funk, spinning
heel kick for Sanders.
-
Hudson and Williams assault their opponents in opposite corners.
-
Double corner whip, double reversal by the Re-Enforcers, spin around reversal
by New South, but Funk and Sanders take them down with dropkicks.
-
Funk clotheslines Hudson out of the ring.
-
Sanders hits Lash LeRoux's Whiplash 2000 move (sorta reverse stunner) on
Williams
-
Funk follows with a piledriver, and that's good enough for the win.
-
Your Winners: the Re-Enforcers (2:53)
-
Crowbar vs Vampiro
-
Crowbar catapults himself into the ring, drops his metal pipe in a corner,
then drops a couple elbows for no reason.
-
Vampiro slowly walks to the ring. Really slowly.
-
Crowbar watches as Vampiro stretches on the ropes, then imitates him seconds
later.
-
They circle.
-
Lockup, no one getting the edge, but Vampiro ends up in the corner.
-
Clean break.
-
Tony starts talking about how Crowbar needs drugs.
-
Ritalin.
-
Not other kinds that you may be thinking off.
-
Lockup, clean break again, but some pushing.
-
Vampiro with a headlock, off the ropes, shoulderblock. Crowbar no-sells.
-
Crowbar off the ropes, shoulderblock, Vampiro no sells.
-
They push and argue, then Crowbar goes off the ropes, over Vampiro's duck
down, under his leapfrog, but right into a spinning heel kick.
-
Vampiro with a corner whip, Crowbar reverses and hits a monkey flip, but
Vampiro lands on his feet.
-
Vampiro charges with a clothesline.
-
Vampiro with a chop, and Crowbar answers back with his own.
-
This annoys Vampiro, so he takes off his shirt and chops back. And they
exchange more chops.
-
Vampiro backs off, gets himself set, and tries again, but Crowbar answers
back wit a kick, and then a chop.
-
Crowbar off the ropes, right into the urinage.
-
Vampiro covers for 2.
-
Vampiro throws Crowbar to the outside, but he manages to hold on the rope,
and give Vamp a headscissors to the outside.
-
Crowbar picks up a chair, and throws/drops it at Vampiro on the ground.
-
Crowbar sets up the chair, and puts Vampiro in it, weakening him with a
sleeper.
-
Crowbar goes back in, and hits the pescado onto the seated Vampiro.
-
Crowbar with punches on the outside, then grabs a new chair, goes to the
apron, and tosses it off into Vamp's back.
-
Crowbar celebrates with his lead pipe, looking to use it on Vampiro, but
Mickey Jay stops him for some reason.
-
Crowbar runs back over to the side of the ring where Vampiro is outside,
but ends up getting a chair shot to the head for his trouble.
-
Vamp with a spin kick to the stomach, then hits a snap suplex.
-
Vampiro goes to the top rope, flying clothesline, 2 count.
-
Vamp with a whip, head down too soon and he gets a clothesline for his
trouble.
-
Crowbar picks him up in a fireman's carry...Death Valley Driver!
-
Crowbar's slow to cover, so that's only 2.
-
Crowbar with a whip, dropkick. Cover, 2 count.
-
Crowbar with a scoop and slam, then goes out side for the slingshot legdrop.
-
Crowbar drags him into the middle of the ring, then bounces off the ropes
and comes up with a Y2JSault, but Vamp moves.
-
Vamp grabs the chair, tosses it to Crowbar (who catches it) and hits a
Vampdaminator.
-
Vamp picks him up, Nail in the Coffin, and that's it.
-
Your Winner: Vampiro (6:50)
-
Replays.
-
The announcers wrap up
-
Hyping how great the Great American Bash was.
-
Bobby: "They were going to change the face of sports entertainment...and
it has been changed."
-
That's it...
-
Hey, 16 minutes of wrestling (more that Nitro? ;) ), and Tony and Tenay
were amazingly focused on the wrestling in front of them instead of trying
to get over the lame-o normal angles. Now, if we can just cut the first
half of the show, no recaps, this show would rule the world even more.
-
Still, the Re-Enforcers alone make this the best show on WCW TV.
