WCW Worldwide - Saturday, 2/19/00
-
I've been having Video Card problems, so this will be a little short. And, if you're waiting for e-mail responses, you might need to wait some more.
- Scott Hudson and Bobby Heenan are the in-studio hosts this week.
- From Nitro (2/7) and Thunder (2/9) - Jeff Jarrett causes the nWo to split, loses power.
- Of course, WCW's production team subtitles the Nitro clips as Thunder...
- And, right after the announcers hype Sid/Hall/Jarrett, we get a PPV promo hyping Sid vs Jarrett.
- Plus, they hype more about Flair and Funk before the break...
- And we get more about the Harlem Heat breakup.
- Did I miss something?
- Clips from Nitro (Booker vs Wall) and Thunder (Booker vs Stevie)
- Bobby Heenan takes another trip to the Power Plant.
- And with some help from Hudson, he actually gets there.
- Wish I had my computer working so I could vid clip this for you, but it's just a normal gym: Banners of past PPVs and Clashes hanging on the wall, about four or five rings, and a workout area.
- Maybe it was just me, maybe if was bad lighting, but it was kinda' tough to tell exactly who was in the ring...or I didn't see anyone I knew.
- Well, then we saw Paul Orndorff, demonstrating something in the ring, who Bobby said "had been reinstated."
- Heenan: "And standing next to him, in there, is the son of the legendary Stan 'The Crusher' Stasiak."
- Yep, that was TAFKA Meat. Wouldn't have noticed it if Bobby didn't point it out.
- Bobby wanders over to the workout area, and comedy ensues when he tries to bench press.
- After a break, and Hudson not helping Heenan get that bar off his chest, we go to the ring.
- "Disgruntled WCW Employee #2321" Bobby Walker vs Ice Train
- Don't you LOVE IT when Worldwide's one week delay gets them into trouble.
- Tenay and Tony are the arena announcers.
- Both work very hard to hype up Walker...the voice over was done THIS week, I think.
- Tony: "Ice Train's lost about 50 pounds since we last saw him."
- Wow. Teddy Long looks much bigger than that on TV.
- Anyway, it was an okay, if unspectacular match.
- Walker hit a top rope running axe-handle, instead of his lariat, which sealed his fate.
- Ice Train hit a People's Splash for the win.
- Your Winner: Ice Train
- Tony and Tenay tried hard to get over the fact that Ice Train got lucky beating Walker.
- Mona vs "Monster Ripper" Rhonda Singh
- I didn't see this match on Nitro, so I'm just noticing that Mona's doing something new to her hair.
- "Person in charge of the Women's division" Mr. Ed gets to talk before the match.
- Mr. Ed said he brought back Mona.
- Mr. Ed announces Madusa as the special guest referee.
- It's worth noting that everyone's treating this as the first match in the new Woman's division.
- In Worldwide time, that's technically true.
- For the rest of us who live in the real world, not so true.
- Tony: "Madusa's the #1 ranked woman in WCW and all over the world."
- Um, if this is the first match, then technically everyone would be, right?
- Anyway, back to stuff you need to know: Madusa's special ref shirt covers her up, for once.
- The match itself was a total Singh squash.
- Mona didn't get a move in that wasn't reversed against her.
- In fact, that's how it ended - Sunset flip try by Mona, but Singh simply sat down for the three.
- Your Winner: Rhonda Singh
- But wait, Rhonda's not done, and she keeps beating up Mona.
- So, Madusa reverses the decision
- Your New Winner: Mona
- Rhonda goes after Madusa then, and lays her out, before refs come in to stop it.
- Madusa says she wants Rhonda next time.
- I'd like to see Mona beat both of them and they go away, but that's just me.
- That's it. See you next week.
