WCW Worldwide - Saturday, 11/20/99
-
Hey..
-
I always have ideas of what to put here.
-
But I forget them by the time I get to the show.
-
So...let's just get this "not entertaining" report started
-
Quote courtesy Jess Stutzman, over at wrestlearena.com,
who's been nice enough to plug this report a couple times.
-
(So, I plug his own stuff, in my own evil way.)
-
In-studio hosts are Bobby Heenan and Tony Schiavone.
-
Bobby "If Larry wasn't out at a golf tournament, I'd be out doing something
good too."
-
We start with a look at Hall winning the US Title
-
Bobby speculates that they may be working with
the Powers That
Be Russo.
-
Back to the 11/8 Nitro: Sid and the Outsiders have a talk.
-
Bret interrupts the conversation, saying that Goldberg should have that
belt.
-
Goldberg interrupts the interview segment.
-
Backstage, Nash gets the manager license.
-
Then, talk to Sid to work out a deal, giving him the Riot Squad
-
Who do nothing while Goldberg runs by in Sid's match.
-
After Lash/Hall
match, one of the Riot Squad reveals himself to be Goldberg and takes
out the Ousiders.
-
Wow, you could hear five different people say Goldberg loud and on camera.
-
On to the end of the ladder match, with Rick Steiner running in, Bret grabbing
the belt, Nash attacking Bret and handing the belt to Hall.
-
After looking at the clips, Tony seems to agree.
-
Well, that blows any chance of that theory being right.
-
Bobby points out that Nash's suspension has been lifted, by Russo.
-
Local Promo for the 12/5 United Center House Show
-
Nothing new: Sting/Bret, Luger/Goldberg.
-
A closer look at the Total Package's antics over the last week.
-
Tony calls him Lex Luger purposefully.
-
So I can too, I guess
-
Tony "He only wants to put himself over..."
-
Bobby explains the hooded shirt and sunglasses as Lex's hiding from the
fans.
-
And we never saw him fall.
-
Back to Nitro: Sting's not happy about Luger's antics from last week.
-
Lex sneaks into the building.
-
Sting walks around looking for Lex.
-
Lex decides to apologize to Sting.
-
Lex finds Sting...fighitng Goldberg and sprays Sting in the face 'accidentally'.
-
Lex steals a "Wet Floor" cone, and fakes a knee injury.
-
Tenay tells Lex that Russo said "Fight or be out of the tournament."
-
Sting serves up Lex to Sid.
-
And...apparently, the match isn't as interesting as the ten skits that
lead up to it, as that's the one thing that isn't shown.
-
Lovely.
-
Bobby explains the physics of the missed mace shot and how it was accidental.
-
The bouncing handheld camera shot brings us a recap of the David Flair/Kim
stuff.
-
This is more skits, who lead to absolutely no wrestling, so, let me one
line it.
-
David stalks Kim and, after finally being saved, Kim find out that she has
to fight David.
-
Fast forward.
-
Maybe it'll make sense that way.
-
Another local house show promo. Far more intersting, though.
-
Tony: "Welcome to the WCW, where anything can happen!"
-
Hmm, that sounds familiar.
-
Bobby: "And probably will!"
-
This ad also hypes these matches...
-
Goldberg vs Bret Hart
-
Sting vs Luger
-
Flair vs Benoit
-
Wow, we can't manage to have two local ads match up in the same show.
-
That's pretty incredible.
-
Q101 (and Mancow, I'm sure) are somehow involved in this.
-
If they can't settle on a card, I don't think I'll be involved in this.
-
Mayhem hype. Too late for that...
-
Time for yet another recap of Dustin Rhodes/7even
-
Tony calls the shoot "gutwrenching."
-
And it "unlike anything other then he did before."
-
Bobby talks about Dustin being in a downward spiral and being forced to
move in with Dusty,
-
Bobby is SO much more fun then Larry.
-
I want Bobby and Hudson for this show, if anyone's listening.
-
Recap of his entrance
-
Tony saying "We've got your attention...100%" is so asking for me to quote
ratings.
-
Dustin "Goldust nearly ruined my wrestling career."
-
I want D'Lo to be ruined with three IC title reigns.
-
I'll give him the Uncle Fester line, though.
-
I like when people do 'shoot' speeches, and we're supposed to believe that
they can't just shut off the cameras and go to commerical.
-
That's not stupid at all.
-
Dustin: "I'm going make WCW a miserable hell"
-
Bring back Eric, Dustin. That ought to do it.
-
Tony: "It was a scary scene to see Dustin Rhodes come out as 7even."
-
How scary was it if you knew he was really knew it was Dustin?
-
Bobby: "I saw Dusty holding a sign the other day: 'Will Wrestle For Food.'"
-
Now another local ad, with Flair/Benoit and Goldberg, Bret, Sting, Sid
and the Animals mentioned, but no matches given
-
And when we come back from break with that Goldbreg/Bret, Luger/Sting ad
again! ARGH! Is anyone awake when they're putting this together?
-
Scott and Steve Armstrong vs Kendall Windham and "Curly Bill"
-
Arena announcers are Tenay and Hudson
-
Tenay recaps the program, for those who've been lucky to turn in last.
-
The chrome has the " around the ex-Vincent's name, so I do to.
-
It's odd to hear Hennig sing "I Hate Rap" since he kinda dropped the angle.
-
I wonder if this is one of those "Losing member of the team leaves the
promotion" matches?
-
(Depends who losses, I think.)
-
Windham and Scott start off...
-
Windham with a big foot to the chest, swinging neckbreaker, longhorn point.
-
Windham picks up Steve, punch, whip, hiptoss reversed and Scott hits two
armdrags.
-
Hudson renames the ex-Vincent as "Curly Fries"
-
Yumm...Curly Fries.
-
Scott hammers Bill as he tries to enter the ring to help out, but Windham
takes him down from behind.
-
Windham with the whip, hiptoss reversed again into a a backslide for a
two count.
-
Maybe Kendall should STOP DOING THAT.
-
Scott with a dropkick, tag, whip set up for Steve's clothesline.
-
Windham with an eye poke, body slam, tag to Bill.
-
Bill runs right into a slow armdrag, then gets bounced back and forth between
the Armstrings.
-
Tag to Steve, whip, double back elbow, double ax-handle.
-
Steve with a whip, reversed into Kendall's knee and a clothesline, er,
lariat by Bill.
-
Bill with an armbar, takedown, fistdrop and a rake of the eyes against
the ropes.
-
Bill throws Steve into Kendall's boot.
-
Bill tags in Kendall. Kendall with an snapmare takedown, kneedrop and a
chinlock.
-
Steve elbows out, off the ropes and hits a swinging neckbreaker.
-
Race to tag, Kendall grabs Steve's leg, but he still makes the tag
-
Scott with punches on Kendall and Curly Bill...
-
Double whip, double shoulderblock by the Armstrongs on Curly Bill.
-
Double whip, double dropkick by Armstrongs.
-
Scott goes for the Ten Punches On Kendall, but Curly Bill helps Kendall
Hot Shot Scott on the ropes.
-
Kendall covers for the win.
-
Your Winners: Kendall Windham and Curly Bill.
-
Hmm...guess it was a new kind of match: Winner gets fired.
-
Those Armstrongs sure are smart, then.
-
Given someone of the particpants, that was a pretty decent match.
-
Although people could vary their offense a little more.
-
Maybe Kendall can learn some new moves in his increased spare time?
-
Nah.
-
And we end right there...not even a final look at the studio. That's
different.
