Just wanted to let you know that Matt goes to Oglethorpe and I go to UT, so we have people from our schools reading the site.See, we are good for something after all.
There is this radio show out of New York called "Opie and Andy". It's a bunch of younger guys, much like the "Sports Junkies" here in D.C., at least that's how I think the format seems to be...anyway, last night they had "Sickboy" (some Internet guy...not the wrestler) on and they were talking about all this hilarious wrestling inside stuff for like two hours.
People were calling in and asking "Is Vinny Mac gonna' turn on Stone Cold?" in their New York accents. Hearing people talk about pro wrestling with New York accents was surreal!
A rotating caption on the main page (We eat fruit booties...) reminded me of a recent trip to the post office.
No kidding.
I purchased a book of stamps, and, upon opening the pack to extract one, saw the motif was "fruit berries", as listed on the cover. I swear, when I first saw this, my mind read "fruit booties". My immediate thought was, either the post office is getting in on the wrestling boom, or there's definitely too much wrestling on TV.
Likewise, many fans want to know the results before that are on TV. And, many websites cater to that.
Now, to the credit of most legitimate (define that how you will) pro wrestling websites, they tag television results posted ahead of time with a spoiler warning. Personally, I really appreciate that. I, for one, don't want to have the results of an upcoming WCWSN or Thunder ruined for me.
So, my question is, why did so many sites report Psychosis losing his mask in Mexico just to point out that he'd lose the mask vs. hair match with Kidman on Nitro? For me, it totally took away all the suspense. Mind you, I'm not trying to revoke the first amendment here, but in my humble opinion, reporting that was a huge spoiler and should have been treated as such.

Ummmm...when someone goes through a gimmick change, isn't the gimmick supposed to, you know, change? Again, in the words of Wade: "Looks like the same Luger to me."
J.R. from The George Washington University does send along two interesting observations on the Luger bit. One, is that the "eerieness" of the death sequence ties into Halloween Havoc and WCW tends to get "eerie" leading up to that PPV. Probably obvious to many of you, but that hadn't occurred to me. It's similar to the weeks leading to Uncensored, where in previous years the announcers often played up the referees getting more lax and things getting more violent leading up to the PPV. (I don't remember that happening this year, though.)
J.R. made another observation, possibly more obscure but definitely on the money. In his words:
They made an allusion to The Terminator in the first live shot of Lex in his new gimmick. He was kneeling on one knee in the middle of the ring (in darkness, w/ the spotlight only on him), and then rising very slowly just as Arnold did (naked) in the very beginning of da Term-in-at-or.
Well, even if you didn't like the "rebirth" of Lex Luger, I guess we can be thankful that they didn't go all the way with the allusion and have him reborn naked. Yech!
One would think that this new "Total Package" is supposed to be more machine (but with a cocky attitude, like Lore from TNG) than man. He's even got his own new insignia/Emblem of Doom.
