WCW Nitro - Festival de Lucha - Saturday, 04/17/99
Howdy all, this is Barry, and let me get all self-serving plugs out of the way first. I run The Lodi Page, and I also am a writer for the Florida Sports Network.
Now that that's out of the way, why I'm here. You may have seen some of my letters appear on DDT Digest, and it's been my lifelong dream for a couple months to write a report for this site. Well, I realized nobody was lined up to do this show, so I basically begged Bill to let me do it. Being the wonderful person that he is, he let me! And here I am.
I'm looking forward to this. No annoying WCW storylines to get in the way of good wrestling. I hope I can keep up with them. Luckily, I'm taping it so I'll just watch it in slow motion. Consigamos esta demostración en el camino.
- The show starts off with fireworks(?), and the new logo. This was filmed during the Nitro in Las Vegas.
- No hablo español. I'm taking French in high school. It doesn't make any sense to give a recap of the action, since you can find it all in the original report.
- Match Uno - Booker T. def Chris Jericho via DQ
- Match Dos - Konnan def Lizmark Jr.
- Match Tres - Kidman y Rey Misterio Jr. def Perry Saturn y Raven
- Match Cuatro - No contest between Diamond Dallas Page, Goldberg, Hogan, and Ric Flair.
Well, that's the show, folks. In true DDT Digest tradition, here we go:
- The Good: No Schiavone! Seriously, the matches they showed were the best ones of the night.
- The Bad: It was just that: a clip show. This is a glorified edition of WCW Worldwide, en español. Also, no Lodi.
- The Ugly: What is this world coming to when "Festival de Lucha" includes no Lucha Libre matches? The closest involves Konnan and a total of three luchadores on the night. Ugh.
