WCW Worldwide - Saturday, 3/28/98
- Hey..what's up? Just a word of warning this week, before
you start reading this week...I'm gonna have a real long
opening, and a short match report
- See, I kind of stayed up till 4:00 last night,
fooling around...which is bad 'cause Worldwide's
on at 9:00 and I don't got a VCR...So, I have
minimal notes on what happened (In the state of
mind that I was in, typing was not an option)..
- And I've got a lot to get out about this Monday's
Nitro..as I type this, as the hours tick down
till it starts...
- Did I not tell you all that Prince Iaukea was getting a
push? HAHA! It all goes back to his lucky win over
Psychosis a few weeks back...maybe this is how he should
have been pushed the first time around?
- Let's get to my mailbag
- Todd S., the guy who's mailed in a lot of house
results of late had a questions that I thought
might be relevant to answered here
- Todd asked a question that I get a
lot...Why are the interviews I got with
Lee Marshall were different then the ones
you got?
- The interviews you see on Worldwide are
different depending on what WCW is doing
in the area...if they're planning on
stopping for a show soon, you'll get a
different group of interviews...Since,
unlike all the other WCW shows (except
{Pro}), Worldwide's in syndication, they
can change little things like that. In fact, Allen L. from the Norfolk area writes: "I was watching WCW Worldwide yesterday ( I review it
for Online Onslaught so I had no choice:) and Arn Anderson came on to hype
the Nitro coming up at Norfolk. He said that he was making plans to be
there, and that the Horseman might reunite at the show. I don't know if
this was credible, or if he was just trying to build excitement for Nitro."
- Todd's also calculated the Goldberg win
total at 56, as opposed to Tenay's claim
of 62...IMO, the total is whatever WCW
decides it to be for this week...The
point isn't how much it is, (unless they
started bringing up a record that he's
about the break) but that's it's really
really long...
- Todd was nice enough to donate some
triva...so, for the next three weeks
('cause I only have three questions),
this section will actually have a triva
question!
- I got this real nice letter from nalla@niia.net
and tried to reply...but the mail didn't get
through...so, if you reading this, let me answer
it now...thanks for the offer, but you might get
in trouble with the cops :)...I would have said
go with the Lodi sign, but since he's not there,
it may not have the same effect...and as for
having Nash powerbomb used to end the career of
Duggan and others...that sound like a good idea,
but maybe it could be better used to get some
else's finisher over...like the Buff
Blockbuster..
- I was also asked if I was gonna have a
sign...maybe you all can help me here (or at
least the Chi-Town residents)...See, I think
taking a wrestling sign through the EL and a bus
wouldn't be too easy or enjoyable, so I've
decided not to take one...Am I off in that idea?
- The idea of Rodman showing up has been brought up...so
here's my info on that happening:
- The Bulls play at Milwaukee Sunday Night. That
usually means a bus trip back and forth, since
it's not that far from Chicago...so, he'll be in
town Monday
- The next game for the Bulls happens on Wednesday,
at home, versus Detroit. That means the Bulls may
have a day off, or at least don't have to worry
about going anywhere for a while
- Dennis can be there...so if WCW wants him there
(which they most likely do) and Dennis wants to
be there (which is the big ? mark), he'll be
there
- As for others showing up who haven't been seen in a
while... (Don't kill me now)
- Steve McMicheal WILL be there...I mean, if WCW
can only have him out there for a minute talking
to Okerland, they'll have him out there...he's
still a huge favorite here and the timing for his
arm to heal is perfect for him to go back to in
ring action.
- Stevie Ray is supposely recovered from his
Achilles injury and has been rumored to come back
anytime now...and after what happened to Booker T
on Thursday, maybe he could use a tag team
partner to take out Eddie and Chavo
- And..well, the Horseman have had strong
connections to Chicago and the Wirtz Family
(Owner of the Chicago Blackhawks and part of the
United Center) and you-know-who may decide to be in
the arena because of it.
- The most important factor is this...The Post-Wrestlemania
Raw and the final game of the NCAA Tournament will be
WCW's competition and I bet they plan on winning...
- Ok, I've stalled long enough...here's the Worldwide
report...
- Bill Goldberg over Johnny Swinger
- Like I really have to tell you what the match was
like?
- 57 or 63, depending on how you look at it
- Bobby Blaze over Mark Starr by Northern Lights Suplex
- Hey, it's time to learn a jobber's finisher...but
which one?
- Starr was Mortis's (aka Chris Canyon) tag
team partner in that tag team, Men At Work. Wow,
they've really gone seperate ways since
then...Starr's still jobbing and Mortis is....
- Starr had a nice bodyslam midway through this
back and forth match
- Bobby Blaze does a nice Russian Legsweep, making
me wish Brad Armstrong was allowed to win
matches...
- I liked it...Nice ending
- Barry Darsow over Chad Fortune by the first ECW PPV
- Ok, I was half asleep...and this match didn't
help...BOOORING!
- Bring Goldberg back out...please!
- Chavo Guerrero Jr. over Mike (Don't call me Super) Nova
- This match being taped, he's not acting heel or
wearing his new shirt...too bad, I like the shirt
- Chavo hits a nice pumphandle suplex...
- Nova's offense was mainly punches and kicks...
- Chavo with 2 Tornado DDT's (Death Valley/Spicolli
Drivers) for the win
- Rick Steiner w/Ted DiBase over Tenzan by Steiner Bulldog
- Much like Ray Traylor, Rick Steiner's on a
mission to take out all of the nWo, one by one
- And much like Traylor, I'll be suprised
if he can get up to Konnan's rung on the
ladder
- Match is okay...but nothing special
- Yo, when are the Steiner's going to face off? Or
are they going to drag that on to December?
- Chris "Unless you're Scott Norton, my superkick
knocks you out" Adams vs Black Cat
- But of course, if Norton no-sells it and it
knocks out Glacier, that reaffirms my belief that
Glacier really really sucks
- Sorry...I'm in a bad mood all of a sudden
- About the match...back and forth, as usual
- The superkick looked very good...
- See ya all Monday, with an arena report...
