WCW Saturday Night - Saturday, June 29th, 1996
- Eight days away from WCW Bash At The Beach 1996. I'm not going to delay what you are all waiting for.
- One hour of WCW Saturday Night!
- WHOOOO!
- WCW Saturday Night opening video
- Footage from Nitro's main event is shown where Harlem Heat were able to win the tag titles thanks to the distraction from Diesel and Ramon.
- Tony Schiavone and Dusty Rhodes are on commentary, as always.
- Tony asks Dusty when will the war end, as if Dusty would know.
- Dusty, in his own way, says that everything will come to an end at Bash At The Beach.
- Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Billy Kidman
- Kidman almost gets the upset with a slingshot leg drop. Kidman also connects with a cross body off the top.
- Kidman catches Rey charging and snap scoop slams Rey down.
- Rey with a victory roll off the top rope for the win, moments later.
- Your Winner: Rey Mysterio Jr. via pinfall
- Lex Luger with a brief promo on the hostile takeover.
- Commercials
- Bash At The Beach 1996 control center with Gene.
- A new match, to my knowledge, will see Mongo taking on Joe Gomez.
- Surprised they added that as that will overshadow everything else.
- Commercials
- The Gambler w/o luck vs. Jim Duggan
- Scoop slam, running clothesline. Duggan wins. Typical.
- Your Winner: Jim Duggan via pinfall
- Video highlighting what happened on Nitro is shown.
- Just clips, as they usually do.
- This coming Monday, the Giant defends the World Championship against John Tenta.
- Harlem Heat vs. Steiner Brothers for the World Tag Team Championships.
- Randy Savage vs. Greg Valentine.
- Four Horsemen will be in an eight-man tag match.
- Commercials
- Gene tries to get me to call the Hotline. I give in, but the line doesn't work.
- Darn.
- A video highlighting the hostile takeover is shown.
- "Earl" Robert Eaton vs. John Tenta
- Tenta has his left eye bandaged up thanks to Bubba a few weeks ago and the attack with quarters.
- Well, Eaton doesn't connect with a swinging neck breaker. So, Tenta simply drops a elbow and picks up the win.
- Your Winner: John Tenta via pinfall
- Randy Savage cuts a promo about the hostile takeover, which is the same one from Nitro.
- Commercials
- Another Bash At The Beach Control Center segment.
- Footage from Nitro where Disco Inferno is showcasing his record.
- Dean Malenko cuts a promo regarding Disco Inferno.
- Malenko talks about respect and the Cruiserweight Championship he holds.
- Malenko doesn't like Inferno and his interference during his matches.
- Malenko asks if Inferno can handle a man with a thousand holds.
- Disco Inferno vs. Johnny Boone
- Boone has a rather bright blue singlet on.
- Inferno avoids a dropkick and clubs away on Boone for a few moments.
- Inferno connects with a swinging neck breaker and wins the match.
- Your Winner: Disco Inferno via pinfall
- Commercials
- A video going over the situation during the main event, yet again.
- Faces of Fear and Maxx vs. Sting, Lex Luger and Randy Savage
- Well, the Faces of Fear and Maxx each get like one move on each of their opponents, so it is not a complete squash.
- Randy Savage leaps off the top and hits the elbow drop on Maxx, to win the match.
- What a surprise.
- Your Winners: Sting, Lex Luger and Randy Savage via pinfall
- Eddie Guerrero cuts a brief promo on the hostile takeover.
- Commercials
- Tony Schiavone is standing with Sting, Luger and Savage.
- Sting calls the outsiders "thugs". Sting says that all they have done is pick on announcers and issued challenges.
- Sting tells them they are in the jungle.
- Luger rambles by saying this is war and they stick together.
- Savage says that opposites attract. Savage says that he respects Luger.
- Savage repeats that he is not the Nacho Man.
- Really? You had to clarify that Savage? C'mon.
- That's it.
- The Good: Kidman looked pretty good.
- The Bad: The matches were way too quick, and the finish to Tenta/Eaton was just stupid.
- The Ugly: Savage having to remind us that he is the Macho Man and not the Nacho Man. Clearly, those WWF segments are getting to Savage.
