This is the very beginning of Route 66 in downtown Chicago, Illinois. This view is on East Adams Street facing east, looking at the very beginning of Route 66, at the very beginning of East Adams Street, at the intersection with South Michigan Avenue. Route 66 starts at the beginning of East Adams Street and heads west. The building we are facing is the museum for the Art Institute of Chicago.
An unexpected twist was on the second-to-last-day of the overall trip. When taking the train from San Francisco to Manassas, we changed trains in Chicago and had a four-hour layover. After dinner in Chicago, we took a walk and I realized we were only a few blocks from this spot. So, I went back there again.
