KNOXVILLE -- Tennessee Head Basketball Coach Don DeVoe announced today that 6-10 junior center Kevin Nash would not be returning for the 1980-81 season.

"I had a meeting with Kevin and it was mutually agreed that he would not be playing basketball at Tennessee next season," DeVoe stated. "It is in the best interest of Kevin Nash and our basketball team that he no longer be a part of the Tennessee program," DeVoe concluded.

Nash became a starting center during the 1980 campaign and averaged 5.4 points per game and 4.0 rebounds. He finished the campaign shooting 43.8 from the field and 46.0 at the free throw line. As a sophomore in 1979 he averaged 5.3 points per game and 3.6 rebounds and as a freshman he was 4.4 in scoring and 5.2 rebounding.

Nash, who attended Aquinas High School in Trenton, Mich., had a career high of 16 points against Niagra in December 1978 and 12 rebounds against Northwestern in December 1977.
